In English class, we’re taught to write out numbers fully with letters (i.e. ‘ten foxes’) in order to convey formality in our written pieces. When it comes to the web, we need to take our thinking in the opposite direction and practice writing numbers numerically instead (i.e. 10 foxes’). Doing so increases the scanability of webpages and allows users to find pertinent information quicker. From phone numbers to statistics, communicating information more efficiently provides for a more positive user experience.

Actually, the most basic rule suggests only writing out numbers under 10. But if a number begins a sentence, it should be written out no matter what. See http://www.grammarbook.com/numbers/numbers.asp or any other grammar resource.
I think the sentence rule is a good rule even on the web. See here:
You know something really weird? 9 times out of 10 I mistype “the.”

Understandably, there are going to be different schools of thought when it comes to this topic. From a formality perspective, I think the principles you’re demonstrating make absolute sense. However, I think there’s still some value in writing numbers numerically to help make your pages more scannable.
